Help us on Youtube!

HELP! Subscribe to our YouTube! THE COLD STARES on YOUTUBE
First off we want to thank all of you that tuned into our livestream last night on insta and fb. Through your donations during the concert we raised enough money to pay for the mixing/mastering of our Black Sunset EP which is absolutely amazing. I hope that when each of you listen to it you realize that played a big part in bringing to fruition.
Here’s where we need some help. Audio for streaming on FB and Insta sucks, issues with buffering etc. We apologize for that. We had technical difficulties early on last night and kinda fought them through the night. The next livestream concert we do we play on running through YOUTUBE, but… you have to have 1000 subscribers to do so and we are at 925. Please help us hit the 1000 mark by subscribing and sharing with your friends to subscribe today. Our goal is to do another livestream May 30th if we hit the 1000 mark prior. Thanks again and please follow us on YouTube so we can continue these concerts properly!

New music news for 2020 and beyond!

Starting June 5th 2020 The Cold Stares will release a new song every two weeks for 12 months.
Initially our plan was to release three albums this year. After thought and discussion and putting ourselves in our fans shoes we thought this might be a better and creative way to proceed. As the songs release they will populate the albums and ep’s they belong to as well as become available for physical purchase if that’s your thing too. With the current environment smashing a lot of touring a festival plans we had, we were looking for a way to continue building the relationship we have with our fans and felt like this would be the route. In addition to the two week releases, on off weeks we will be having livestream performances that will include interactive set lists with our fans, video performances of the new songs for YouTube and special fan only merch deals.
We’ve always been about going about things on our own path in new ways and hope you will join us

Fan just made my week

Ok, week made. Fan sent me this yesterday. One of my absolute heroes Mr. Gordie Johnson rocking our T-Shirt in the studio. If you don’t know Big Sugar and you are a guitar and blues rock fan, stop now and immerse yourself. The man had a Gibson Guitar signature guitar AND a Boss Suit endorsement. Legend. Gordie wearing our shirt, Joe B shoutout in his live this week, all the critic justification I’ll ever need. ROCK AND ROLL.

The Cold Stares – Black Sunset

June 1st The Cold States will release a new EP titled “Black Sunset”.
The four track EP was written and recorded over 3 days in April.
With the “Heavy Shoes” project held up for the quarantine to be over in Memphis,
and the “Ghosts Upon Ghosts” album not set for release until the fall we thought you guys might like to hear a project we’ve done during the lockdown to hold you over.
Inspiration hit last week, and one thing I try to explain about songwriting to people is you can’t force it,
and when it does come, stop and create. All 4 songs were written within a matter of hours, and recorded
within a couple days. The first single will probably sneak out in the next few weeks.
This is the most “rock and roll” project that we have done, and we hope you enjoy it.

Interview with Mr. Mullins of The Cold Stares

“I hope music is a release from those exact things that divide us. All music. I want to get as far away from that division as I can, personally. Many acts I love have had political statements, lyrics, causes, platforms and so on. That doesn’t have anything to do with what I love about their art, whether I agree with them or not.” – Brian Mullins of The Cold Stares

Faced with the ultimate uncertainty of his own life, Chris Tapp of The Cold Stares never gave up. A rock ‘n’ roll journey that is like no other, filled with enough countless challenges and setbacks for several lifetimes, their story of perseverance is absolutely inspiring. “The Cold Stares are back!” – Review

The duo of vocalist/guitarist Chris Tapp and drummer Brian Mullins, under the name The Cold Stares, isn’t your everyday indie act. The pair commands national recognition thanks to their cracking blend of rock and blues. The mix they bring to these time-tested forms balances the fundamentals giving each style its enduring appeal while delivering music that sounds fresh rather than retrofitted for modern audiences. Their latest studio release Ways packs a hard-nosed wallop over the course of thirteen songs and likewise shows the continued growth of their songwriting within a familiar frame. I think The Cold Stares are far more than a throwback act; this collection has relevance rather than reveling in a dimming past and they fill each performance with edgy urgency.
